"Saudi Standards" Examines the challenges of the Gold and Jewelry Sector in Calibrating Scales

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization discussed with the National Committee for jewelry and Gemstones in the Federation of Saudi Chambers the most prominent challenges facing the gold and jewelry sector in relation to the activities of the Legal Metrology Program Initiative "Taqyees" to calibrate gold weighing instruments.
This came during a meeting organized "remotely" in the presence of the Governor of Saudi Standards, Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi, the Chairman of the Committee Karim bin Shehaza Al-Anzi and several members of the Committee and officials of Saudi Standards.
The meeting included a discussion of the most prominent challenges facing the private sector in the field of calibrating gold weighing instruments and the solutions needed to overcome them. Aiming to provide a fair investment and commercial climate in line with the Kingdom's government directions.
Noting its desire to listen to all comments to address them in a way that contributes to providing an attractive investment and commercial environment in the Kingdom.
The Chairman and members of the Jewelry and Gemstone Committee of the Federation of Saudi Chambers thanked Saudi Standards for this initiative, expressing their hope for continued coordination, communication and addressing challenges in a way that enhances consumer confidence and protection in the Saudi market.
Conduction such meetings comes within the framework of continuous communication between Saudi standards and the private sector, with the goal of developing the framework and legislation regulating the Legal Metrology Program "Taqyees" and working to enhance the confidence and protection of consumers.
It is noteworthy that the Legal Metrology Program "Taqyees" is one of the most important initiatives implemented and concerned with achieving fair trade by verifying the accuracy and correctness of readings of various measuring devices such as fuel pumps, commercial scales, electricity and water meters and others.
